FULL DESCRIPTION:
The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee and manage a team of 5-10 direct reports in a production environment both for safety, production requirements and quality. This position will work directly with the 1st Shift Manager to communicate and adhere to the company requirements of production.
Lead/oversee and manage a team of 5-10 direct reports in the successful completion of the assigned workload to the 2nd shift. The direct reports will consist of machine operators, stackers, packers, expeditors and material handlers. It is necessary that the daily effort be completed with a safe, orderly, timely and accurate workflow. Quality assurance and troubleshooting are key components to a safe and successful daily output.
Work Environment - Maintain work practices, workflows and a management style that reflects the Company ideals where output, product quality and efficiencies are in the forefront. All while maintaining a pleasant, safe, and respectful work environment.
Communication with your team, manager and other department managers/supervisors and executive management is a necessity.
Monitor team's daily and weekly performance and mentor and communicate with team for any changes that need to be corrected or changed.
Assist in the daily start-up of the department shift by accessing &take proper action to assure team members are in place and ready to perform their assigned roles.
Confirm equipment is functional, and that raw product is staged and ready at the proper stations for production. If not, take immediate action to report & remedy any deficiencies.
Maintain thorough knowledge of and be able to implement all company policies, rules, and regulations.
Provide on-the-job training and retraining to new and existing personnel.
Generate accurate production reports and analysis using existing templates.
Ensure that the workplace is maintained clean and to an orderly standard by shift team members.
Meet and exceed production productivity targets.
Manage seamless daily transitions between first and second, then from second to first department shifts. By maintaining the team's adherence and continuous improvement of all established operational procedures, re: shift start-up, production run, handoff, shutdown and cleaning.
Maintain fluid and productive relationship with mechanics and millwrights.
Maintain a fluid and positive working relationship with Mill Manager to assess, plan, and deliver regulatory and opportunity training to improve individual and team knowledge and capability. This includes delivering accurate and timely assessments of events and or reviews.
Collaborate and coordinate with other departments and shifts to meet operational and business goals.
Maintain an as needed environment where all are willing to work required overtime.
