Bioprocess Engineer- Simply Biotech

Immediate opening for a Bioprocess Engineer, located in Emeryville, CA who possess:
- Experience in cultivating animal cell culture from benchtop and pilot-scale bioreactors to industrial scale for manufacturing
- BS with 1-3 years or MS with 1 year of experience in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, chemical engineering, biotechnologies, biochemistry, life sciences or a closely related field
- Experience in using a Design-of-Experiment (DOE) approach for bioprocess optimization of animal cell culture in a bioreactor system

FULL DESCRIPTION:
As part of the Bioprocess team, you will identify and optimize key process parameters to scale-up bench scale process for the pilot production and manufacturing of animal cell culture. You will participate in design and implementation of bioprocesses, preparation of samples for downstream processes, and transfer of technology for manufacturing. This role will work in concert with the cell biology, media development, tissue engineering, and food science teams. The successful candidate will utilize their expertise and experience in scaling up animal cell culture to achieve the client's mission. Salary and title will be commensurate with experience.
The selected candidate will be responsible for the following:
- Assist in implementing the bioprocess engineering systems that enable the client to commercialize its technology
- Scale growth of animal cell culture from benchtop and pilot-scale bioreactors toward industrial scales for manufacturing
- Assist in upstream bioprocess development and media optimization
- Define parameters to increase growth and production of cell cultures for scaled production
- Assist in evaluating and implementing new engineering technologies/systems for continual improvement
- Work with outside vendors and resources where appropriate and assist in external projects required to accomplish project goals
- Use the electronic laboratory notebook (ELN) system for rigorous documentation of experimental procedures and data
- Contribute to regulatory submissions and inspections as appropriate as a subject matter expert representing our bioprocess
- Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor
- Communicate effectively and present work-related results to supervisor, project teams, and all functional groups
